Based on the classic Video Game, Street Fighter is looking to delight the fans with as many true-to-the-game moves, but doesn’t have enough to bring in anyone else. Impressive costume design, and while the actors did not have a lot in terms of story to sink their teeth into, the accuracy is very impressive in how these characters translate to live-action.
There are multiple moments that completely shift into anime-style animation that both show how impressive a Street Fighter movie can be, but also serve as an example of why the live-action story falls apart. I’d love to explore a sequel that’s set completely in animation, as I think that suits the style of Street Fighter best.
Sadly, ‘Street Fighter’ is not as good as I wanted it to be, but not terrible. A story merely meant to set up sequels. That’s the cardinal sin of these movies to me: when you’ve only built up for the next movie and not finished yet.

You Can See Everything (R)

Where to Watch: Theaters
Directed By:
Nathan Fielder, Lance Oppenheim
Starring:
Nathan Fielder, Elizabeth Holmes
Genre:
Documentary

I learned about Elizabeth Holmes only recently in the promotion for this film, and now am completely fascinated by her and everything that led up to it- of all people, Nathan Fielder leading a documentary covering her last month of freedom.
Brilliantly edited, paced, and directed, You Can See Everything is an incredible showcase of humanity and deception. Blurring the lines of what is ethical, and upending the traditional narrative of documentary filmmaking itself.
At the end of the day, you’re not leaving with an answer. You’re leaving with thoughts and with your own interpretation of what you saw.
See It or Skip It? Must-See
Whalefall (R)

Where to Watch: Theaters
Directed By:
Brian Duffield
Starring:
Austin Abrams, Josh Brolin, Elisabeth Shue
Genre:
Survival, Adventure, Drama

This deep-sea survival horror film has much more going for it than what meets the eye. Impressive acting by Austin Abrams, and surprising heart sprinkled through the chaos of being stuck in a whale.

Visionquest (TV-14)

Where to Watch: Disney+
Created By:
Terry Matalas
Starring:
Paul Bettany, James Spader, Ruaridh Mollica, Emily Hampshire, Orla Brady

James Spader returns as Ultron, and the world is better for it. This is the conclusion of a Marvel television trilogy, whether planned or unplanned, that has ended up being the strongest part of the MCU since Avengers: Endgame. I love this world inside of Vision’s head consisting of all of Tony Stark’s previous AIs. The creativity and writing are at their highest in the MCU when the story isn’t taking itself too seriously, but doesn’t forget the heart of what it’s trying to say. I think Vision Quest does an excellent job at that, and is a must-see for any Marvel fans and non-Marvel fans alike.
