This week on See It or Skip It, the group chat is loud, and the popcorn is hot. ABC4 Film Critic and Celebrity Interviewer Patrick Beatty is joined by UFCA Members Rebecca Frost from the Geekshow Podcast and TV Show In Space, plus Kent Dunn from the Baconsale Podcast and Showtimeshowdown, and we’re jumping into a lineup stacked with star power and “swing for the fences” ambition. From Sony Animation’s “GOAT” to a preview of HBO Max’s “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” to Sam Rockwell’s chaos energy in “Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die” and Emerald Fennell’s glossy, gothic take on “Wuthering Heights” starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, we’re sorting the must watches from the maybe laters. Some titles soar. Some stumble. All of them get the full breakdown.
In Theaters
“Wuthering Heights” (R)

Where to Watch: Theaters
Directed By:
Emerald Fennell
Starring:
Margot Robbie, Jacob Elordi, Hong Chau
Genre:
Period Drama, Psychological Romance
All media courtesy of Warner Bros.
With over 15 film adaptations of the 1847 novel, Wuthering Heights, Emerald Fennell brings her signature psychological kinkiness in a more subdued tone that left me wanting more bite. The leads feel miscast, which makes it hard to connect with two lovers who treat romance like a contact sport, bruising each other in the name of devotion. Meanwhile, Alison Oliver steals every scene she steps into, easily the standout in a storm of melodrama.
It is not quite a faithful adaptation, yet it does not stray boldly enough to claim its own wild identity either. Visually, it is stunning, all windswept longing and tortured glances, but the pacing and quick cut montages feel almost engineered for the short form crowd, like it was edited for a vertical scroll.
In the end, style wins over substance. Still, for die-hard fans of the novel, this version may still be worth checking out.
See It or Skip It? Wait For It
GOAT (PG)

Where to Watch: Theaters
Directed By:
Tyree Dillihay, Adam Rosette
Starring:
Caleb McLaughlin, Gabrielle Union, Stephen Curry, Bobby Lee, Andrew Santino
Genre:
Animation, Sports
All media courtesy of Sony Pictures Animation
Sony Pictures Animation keeps its winning streak alive with a heartfelt “undergoat” story packed with charm, humor, and serious style.
Caleb McLaughlin shines in the leading role, bringing warmth and swagger in equal measure. And the supporting lineup is stacked, with scene-stealing turns from Bobby Lee and Andrew Santino that add just the right amount of chaos. This is one the whole family can rally around.
Also, for fans of The Last Dance, there is a subtle nod to Utah that sneaks in. It is unexpected, but it proves something timeless: attention to detail and real love for the game will always rise above the noise.

Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die (R)

Where to Watch: Theaters
Directed By:
Gore Verbinski
Starring:
Sam Rockwell, Juno Temple, Haley Lu Richardson
Genre:
Action, Adventure
All media courtesy of Briarcliff Entertainment
Gore Verbinski is making a clear statement here: Put your dang phones down. In “Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die”, the energy is chaotic in a way that feels almost nostalgic, bouncing from one tangent to the next like a brain with too many tabs open and no interest in closing any of them.
There is a lot being said about the state of the world, about distraction, doom scrolling, digital overload, all of it swirling in the background. I am just not convinced this was the right vehicle to deliver those messages. The film moves fast, talks loud, swings big, sometimes at the expense of clarity.
Still, Sam Rockwell remains endlessly charming, the kind of screen presence that can anchor even the wildest detour. And Juno Temple continues to prove how dynamic she is, shifting tones with ease and keeping the emotional core intact.
It will not be for everyone. But I respect the audacity, the unabashed silliness, the moments of unexpected heart that sneak up on you when the noise quiets down. Sometimes the big swing is the point, even if it does not always connect.
