SALT LAKE CITY, UT (See It or Skip It) – Daredevil Born Again Season 2 on Disney+ sees Matt Murdock returning as our brawling Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, now in hiding from Mayor Fisk and his vigilante task force. They have been sent to round up any and all ground-level heroes, or those who dare question the new Mayor, but a resistance is forming, and may take down Mayor Fisk once and for all.
This is the second season of the reborn “Daredevil” Netflix series, and while I wasn’t completely sold on the first season, I can give season 2 my full-throated support. This season is f***ing awesome and exactly what the fans, including me, have been clamoring for.

One of the things that kinda felt off with the first season is how disconnected certain plots felt from others. It both wanted to distance itself from the original series but uses pivotal moments from that series to build this new one. I am pleased to say this season pays tribute to the original, whether it’s a hallway fight, TV-MA dialogue, or the recurring themes Matt Murdock has between faith and fighting.

Speaking of fighting, this season has some of my favorite moments of Daredevil fighting, and I love the evolution of his fighting style. Growing from a street brawler to an acrobatic billy club-wielding force of nature. It feels more cinematic in scale, hopefully in preparation to bring him on to the big screen.

Karen Page has a much bigger role to play in season two, and her relationship with Matt is stronger than ever. I like how Karen is fully in as a vigilante herself in many cases and actively assisting Matt in ways he doesn’t see coming. Both are clearly in love, but still reeling from the loss of Foggy. His presence haunts every moment they are on screen in a way that builds their own relationship while deepening the gravity of what they are doing. It’s never clean, and people can get hurt.
By far the most interesting dynamics come between Murdock and Benjamin Poindexter a.k.a. “Bullseye”, Foggy’s murderer. His story remains far from over as he wrestles with his past. I can’t reveal too much else regarding this season as we’re already running into major spoiler territory. But as the season progresses, you’ll understand why there’s more to his character to say the least.

The same can be said for Kingpin and Daredevil’s dynamic. We get a lot of similar beats from their previous encounters and the philosophical dilemma between them. But I really found the writing to be the true Kingpin here, as I was not expecting much of where they wound up going with them. There are also returning characters from the Netflix era of Marvel that fans will jump out of their seats for when they see them, but don’t expect a ton of screentime, but a decent amount to keep you engaged and give each character their moment.

The show airs weekly, so you’ll have to wait to find out how the story evolves. But I can tell you that the creators have cooked with this season, and it is one I would highly recommend for any MCU fans or just Daredevil fans.
