“Snow White” is the retelling of the classic Disney animated film, featuring Snow White (Rachel Zegler) as a princess who is forced to work as a scullery maid by an evil queen (Gal Gadot) due to her jealousy of Snow White’s beauty. When word comes that the queen plans on killing Snow White, she escapes and comes across seven dwarfs who help her retake her rightful place as leader.

While both Rebecca and Patrick can concede that this should still be an easy watch for kids to enjoy, both reviewers found issues related to the film’s story, performances, and overall direction. The two address the controversies surrounding the film, and ultimately could not recommend it for the big screen unless you need to take the kids out for a night.

Debuting at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, “Magazine Dreams” was one of the last films starring Jonathan Majors before his assault charges in that same year, which resulted in him losing the role of “Kang the Conqueror,” Marvel’s next multiversal threat since Thanos was introduced. It centers on Killian Maddox, a man who is desperate for greatness, finding inspiration from a bodybuilding hero. He’s incredibly socially awkward, and emotionally stunted as he lashes out with anger often.

As Killian falls further into using performance-enhancing drugs and learning hard truths of his own mortality and his “heroes”, the chances of becoming great may shrink before he even has a chance to walk out on stage.

While Rebecca had not seen the film yet, she and Patrick delved into tough topics about celebrity cancel culture, and how you approach a movie that has a figure who is controversial and guilty of crimes that taint their work and reputation.

While Patrick believed the film is great as well as Majors’s performance, in the end, both he and Rebecca agree that a recommendation is not the best approach, but to leave that choice to each individual to decide whether it’s worth seeing or not.
