The Shining (R) 45th Anniversary

45 years later, Stanley Kubrick’s psychological horror masterpiece “The Shining” still hits like a cold axe through a wooden door. Adapted (loosely and controversially) from Stephen King’s novel, Jack Torrance, a struggling writer and recovering alcoholic, takes a job as winter caretaker of the remote Overlook Hotel with his wife Wendy and psychic son Danny in tow. As the isolation deepens, so does the madness, leading to one of cinema’s most iconic breakdowns.
